Justine Henin, last year's runner-up, was knocked out of the Australian Open on Friday, losing her third-round match 6-4, 7-6 (8) to two-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Henin came into the tournament still carrying the effects of a right elbow injury that sidelined her for most of the last half of 2010.

The Belgian player had four double-faults and consective errors in the tiebreaker but saved two match points before Kuznetsova closed out the match.

Kuznetsova, the French Open champion in 2004, will next play last year's winner at Roland Garros, Francesca Schiavone, in the fourth round at Melbourne Park.
