BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) World No. 2 Simona Halep has postponed a nasal operation so she can play for Romania against the Czech Republic in the first round of the Fed Cup World Group.

Halep is expected to face Karolina Pliskova in the first singles match on Saturday in the city of Cluj. The 24-year-old year old Halep appeared in good spirits Friday as she appeared with her teammates.

''Before I was sick ...and had many problems but now I'm okay,'' said Halep Friday. ''I have to have surgery later. It's tough to breathe but not that dangerous so I can have the surgery later.''

Teammate Monica Niculescu will meet Czech opponent Petra Kvitova in the second singles match Saturday.

In the final match, Andreea Mitu and Raluca Olaru take on Barbora Strycova and Denisa Allertova.

If the Czechs win, it will boost their chances of winning the Fed Cup for a third consecutive year.
