France to play Netherlands on clay in Fed Cup semifinal

PARIS (AP) France has chosen to play on clay when it hosts Netherlands in their Fed Cup semifinal.

The tie will be held at the 4,400-seater ''Arena Loire'' in Trelaze in northwestern France from April 16-17, the French Tennis Federation said Friday.

France leads the Netherlands 5-1 in their head-to-heads but the countries have not met since the 1997 final, won 4-1 by France.

Two-time winner France captured its other Fed Cup in 1997 while the Netherlands has never won it, finishing runner-up twice.
