Doha Ready to Host the WTA Championships 2010

Doha, October 18 (QNA) - Everything is set for the WTA Championships ? Doha 2010.

With the presence of the top 8 women's players and the 4 best doubles teams of the world, the season ending finale of the WTA Tour promises an exciting start and equally enthralling ending.

The event will be held from the 26th ? 31st of October at the courts of the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. The players will compete for the coveted title and a piece of the US$4.55 million in prize money.

Competing in the singles competition; defending champion, Serena Williams, the champion of the MPS Group Championships at Ponte Vedra Beach, Caroline Wozniacki, US Open champion Kim Clijsters, US Open runner-up Vera Zvonareva, the winner of the Family Cup, Samantha Stosur, BNP Paribas Open champion Jelena Jancokic, Francesca Schiavone (the first Italian female tennis player to reach a final at a Grand Slam and win the title at Roland Garros) and the winner of the Medibank International Sydney, Elena Dementieva.
