Cilic finally broke Isner's serve during the eighth game of the second set, leading to a 6-3 win and a two-set lead.

Unlike Friday's first singles match, when Cilic lost after leading Sock by two sets, the world's No. 12-ranked player finished off Isner by breaking him in the ninth game to pull out a 6-4 win.

The U.S. is seeking its first semifinals appearance since 2012, Croatia since 2009.
