Kimmer Coppejans became the first Belgian since 1947 to win the French Open boys title Sunday, defeating Australian Open runner-up Filip Peliwo of Canada 6-1, 6-4.

In the girls championship, second-seeded Annika Beck of Germany beat Anna Schmiedlova of Slovakia 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. The last German girl to take the junior title at Roland Garros was Anna-Lena Groenefeld in 2003.

The 18-year-old Coppejans is the first from his country to win the boys title since Jacky Brichant. He had never advanced beyond the third round of a Grand Slam tournament before.
