Cirstea reaches Rogers Cup final

Published Aug. 10, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Sorana Cirstea upset Li Na in straight sets Saturday to keep the fourth seed from returning to the Rogers Cup final.

The unseeded Romanian beat Li 6-1, 7-6 (5). Li lost last year's final to Petra Kvitova, who Cirstea eliminated in Friday's quarterfinals.

The 27th-ranked Cirstea has ousted two former world No. 1s in Jelena Jankovic and Caroline Wozniacki this week before beating the sixth-seeded Kvitova.

Cirstea is hunting for her second WTA title since 2008 in Tashkent. She'll take on the winner of the evening semifinal between top-seed American Serena Williams and third-seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.
