Capsule looks at the WTA Championships field

Eight of the best players in women's tennis will meet in Doha, Qatar from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2 to compete for the year-end Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Championships.

The tournament begins with a round robin portion, with two pools of four players each. The top two players from each pool then advance to the semifinals, with the winners of those matches advancing to the final.

Below is a capsule look at each of the tournament's eight competitors. All stats and rankings are updated through Oct. 26.
