Berdych beats Lorenzi for place in St. Petersburg semifinals

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) Tomas Berdych advanced to the semifinals of the St. Petersburg Open by beating Paolo Lorenzi of Italy 6-3, 6-4 Friday.
The ninth-ranked Czech, who is seeded third, will next face either fifth-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany or Russian veteran Mikhail Youzhny, who won in St. Petersburg in 2004.
Fourth-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain also reached the semifinals, defeating Joao Sousa of Portugal 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Bautista Agut will face either U.S. Open champion Stan Wawrinka or Viktor Troicki of Serbia.
