Arruabarrena upsets Larsson to reach semis at Korea Open

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) Lara Arruabarrena of Spain upset second-seeded Johanna Larsson of Sweden on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Korea Open.

Arruabarrena won six of eight break points in advancing to a semifinal against either Sara Sorribes Tormo or Patricia Maria Tig on Saturday.

Third-seeded Zhang Shuai of China also advanced with a comfortable 6-2, 6-4 win over Camila Giorgi of Italy, who struggled with eight double faults.

Zhang, who is bidding for her second WTA singles title, is the highest seed remaining. Top-seeded and defending champion Irina-Camelia Begu was eliminated on Thursday.
