Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta and England winger Adam Johnson have signed new long-term contracts at Manchester City.

Zabaleta, whose contract was due to expire next summer, is tied to City until 2015 while Johnson agreed a four-year extension to a deal that keeps him at the club until 2016.

Zabaleta, who vies for the right-back spot with Micah Richards, says ''I didn't think twice - I gave a quick answer because I was so happy to sign.''

Johnson is a regular in England's squad despite failing to secure a first-team spot at City and has fallen out with manager Roberto Mancini on a number of occasions following the Italian's criticism of his work rate.
