Barcelona says midfielder Xavi Hernandez has a right thigh injury that will rule him of Saturday's game at Real Madrid and put him in doubt for the Champions League return leg against AC Milan.
The club says the Spain international will be sidelined for 10 to 15 days.
Barcelona hosts Milan on March 12 needing to overcome a 2-0 deficit from the first leg of the Round of 16 tie.
Barcelona lost 3-1 to Madrid and was eliminated from the Copa del Rey on Tuesday. The team visits the Santiago Bernabeu with a 12-point lead in La Liga.
