Barcelona legend Xavi would like to become a manager for the club at the end of his playing days.

Xavi is easily one of the biggest legends in the history of FC Barcelona. When he left the club in 2015, he finished with over 750 appearances and won 25 trophies with the Catalans. He’s currently playing in the Qatar Stars League for the club Al Sadd. Xavi has expressed some his desire to become a manager someday after his playing career is done. However, would he be a great managerial choice whenever a new manager is needed for this club?

Xavi has explained that he would like to play a couple more years of football then try to find a job in coaching. At 36 years old, Xavi could still play with the world’s best even if it’s for a short period of time. The Spaniard also added that he would like to see former Barca players take on roles with the club after their playing careers ended. He did speak about this, his current status, and more on this topic recently on a Spanish Radio station.

“I like being on the pitch with the kids, helping them, correcting them,” Xavi told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser. “Coaching Barca is one of the ideas I have. I don’t know if it will all come together, but I like coaching more and more every day. It’s too soon to return to Barcelona at the moment, though. [When you leave] you realize the demands of being there. I needed to be away from stress. It’s intense and I need more years [away]. I’d like to play for two more years, take my coaching badges and then see.”

In my opinion, Xavi would be an excellent manager whenever he decides to go into that field. The reason why is because he has the potential to be a great decision maker. He was a great decision maker during his days on the pitch for Barca. Xavi is a great leader and him being appointed would go over well with the Barca fans. His ability to connect with players would certainly help him be successful.

Overall, if a manager were to leave for any reason, Barcelona should give Xavi a call whenever he’s ready to manage the club. He’s still a great player and was one of Barca’s most important players during all their title campaigns. He embodies what a Barcelona player should be and would become a world-class manager.
