FC Twente's 30-year old captain Peter Wisgerhof is in line to earn his first cap for the Netherlands after he was included in the Dutch squad to face Moldova and Sweden in Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Defender Wisgerhof will replace Valencia's Hedwiges Maduro, who is sidelined by a hamstring injury.

Bert van Marwijk's side faces Moldova Oct. 8 and Sweden four days later.

Former Aston Villa defender Wilfred Bouma turned down an opportunity to return to the Dutch team, saying he is not ready to feature yet following a lengthy injury absence.

Van Marwijk praised Wisgerhof's ability to defend.

"He is very experienced player that we can use during these two matches," Van Marwijk said.

Liverpool winger Ryan Babel missed out, despite Arjen Robben's continuing absence.

The Netherlands squad also includes Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is to replace the injured Robin van Persie. Van Nistelrooy has scored 34 goals in 66 appearances for the Netherlands.
