Cofie was withdrawn during the first half of Saturday's friendly success at Morecambe after aggravating a hip problem.
But Wilson insists the youngster, on loan from Manchester United, should be fit for this weekend's Capital One Cup tie with Burton Albion.
"John had a bit of a problem there before the game but it wasn't enough to leave him out," Wilson told the Sheffield Star.
"When he took a bit of a whack on it again we decided to take him off because there's no point in taking unnecessary risks. It's nothing serious though."
