Franco Di Santo and Arouna Kone scored in the second half to give Wigan a 2-0 victory at Southampton on Saturday and leave the promoted team winless after two rounds of the Premier League.

Di Santo struck in the 51st minute at St. Mary's Stadium, shooting fiercely into the net after being set up by Shaun Maloney. Kone made the match safe in the 89th after dispossessing center back Jose Fonte and running nearly half the length of the pitch before blasting the ball past goalkeeper Kelvin Davis.

Southampton and Aston Villa are the only teams to be on zero points this season after having played two matches. Wigan now has a win and a loss.

It was Southampton's first home Premier League match in seven years.
