Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has been fined 10,000 pounds ($16,100) by the English Football Association for criticizing a referee after his team's loss to Manchester United.

The Spaniard was unhappy about a penalty being awarded to United, as well as Danny Welbeck avoiding a red card in Wigan's 4-0 loss in the Premier League on Sept. 15.

Martinez admitted an FA misconduct charge for implying ''that the match referee and/or match officials in general are motivated by bias and/or brought the game into disrepute.''

The FA warned Martinez about his future conduct.
