Wiese could be the Real deal

Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese says he is being targeted by Real Madrid as a potential understudy to Iker Casillas.

Real boss Jose Mourinho does not have a lot of competition for his number one shot-stopper, with Antonio Adan having made just three appearances since his promotion to the first team in 2009.

Wiese has spent his entire career in Germany and has been with Werder Bremen since 2005, making 27 appearances in the Bundesliga this season.

"There is some truth in that Real Madrid want to sign me," Wiese told the Kreiszeitung. "There was contact between the club and my agent."

Real may have some competition for the 30-year-old, who has been linked with Italian giants AC Milan, Inter and Juventus as well as Premier League outfit Tottenham.

Wiese admits he would relish a move abroad but will not be rushed into making a decision.

"Several factors come into play before making a decision, such as the family," he added. "I have to think about everything carefully. The option is to play in the big leagues."
