Latics kept their survival hopes alive with a 3-2 win over West Ham last weekend that condemned the Hammers to relegation. However, Roberto Martinez's men remain in the drop zone because of their inferior goal difference ahead of their final day showdown at Stoke. Whelan insists confident is high in the camp that they can stay up and get a positive result at Stoke following their heroics against West Ham. "The squad are feeling fantastic," Whelan told Sky Sports News. "After the result on Sunday they were sky high and up for everything. "The mood in the camp is really, really good and the way we have played in the last two months I think it gives everyone hope that we can go to Stoke and either get a point or get three. With five sides battling for three places above the relegation zone, a tense afternoon is guaranteed on Sunday. Birmingham travel to Tottenham and Blackpool make the journey to Manchester United, while Wolves and Blackburn face each other and Whelan is expecting an exciting conclusion to the campaign. "It is going to be an awesome day," added Whelan. "We had this before at Sheffield United four or five years ago and we had to go there and win so we have to go to Stoke and win. "If we get a point we could stay up, it is all boiling up and it is going to be one wonderful Sunday."
