Westwood to sign Villa deal
Thiago Silva's agent says the defender will stay at Paris Saint-Germain, despite interest from Barcelona.
The Brazil international only moved to the Parc Des Princes last summer in a bumper €42million (£36.3million) move from AC Milan.
That has not stopped rumours linking the former Fluminense star with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona, who tried to sign him from Milan in 2012.
Earlier this month PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was forced to publicly deny rumours Silva was on the brink of a move to the Nou Camp and re-iterated that he was not for sale.
Silva himself admitted last week that a move to Barcelona would be a "dream", but refused to push for a move away from PSG.
His agent, Paulo Tonietto, has now moved to try and end the rumours once and for all by insisting Silva will see out the remaining four years of his contract at the Ligue 1 champions.
"Thiago Silva is a Paris Saint-Germain player, he is under contract and he will honour that," he told the club's official website.
"Rumours are rife, as they were last year, but he is a Paris Saint-Germain player and he will see out his contract."
Westwood has established himself as a key member of Paul Lambert's side since arriving from Crewe last summer.
The 23-year-old was a stand-out performer for Villa despite their struggles at the wrong end of the table and he is tipped for a big future.
Westwood made 31 appearances in all competitions for Villa last season and Lambert is a huge admirer of the player.
Villa are keen to reward Westwood with a new improved contract to ward off potential suitors in the classy midfielder.
Lambert has already tied down the likes of Andreas Weimann, Nathan Baker and Brad Guzan to new deals and Westwood is expected to follow suit later this month.
