The Republic of Ireland international, 26, is out of contract with the Sky Blues on June 30 following three years at the midlands club in which he has emerged as one of the brightest talents outside of the top flight. And despite Coventry's repeated attempts to see Westwood extend his stay, the former Carlisle stopper finally appears to have landed his dream of Barclays Premier League football at the Stadium of Light. Coventry manager Andy Thorn said: "Keiren has written to the club confirming that he will not be signing a new deal. He has been an outstanding player for this club and I would personally like to wish him all the best for the future. "The club obviously has no say on where he goes now but he has gone about everything in completely the right way. It is nice to have some clarity on the situation and now we can move on with preparations for the new season. The chairman and I are working hard to bring in players including someone to fill the goalkeeping position." Scunthorpe's out-of-contract keeper Joe Murphy is believed to be City's number one choice to fill the slot created by Westwood's departure.
