Werder Bremen says striker Claudio Pizarro's knee injury is not as serious as previously believed.

Pizarro said he had a tear in the tendon of his right knee and that he would miss up to four weeks. But club doctor Goetz Dimanski says more tests have shown Pizarro only pulled a tendon in Saturday's 5-0 loss at Borussia Moenchengladbach and could be back before the end of the week.

Pizarro has scored 11 goals this season for fifth-place Werder. The Peru striker is the leading non-German scorer in Bundesliga history with 153 goals.
