Arsene Wenger has denied reports suggesting Arsenal have approached Manchester United with a view to signing want-away striker Wayne Rooney.
The 27-year-old recently handed in a transfer request at the Red Devils, his second after doing the same in October 2010, and the Emirates has been mooted as a possible destination should he leave the Premier League champions.
The former Everton star has become increasingly frustrated with his role at United, with a number of below-par performances in recent weeks resulting in the attacker failing to play the full 90 minutes in the majority of the club's last 10 matches.
Wenger, however, insists he is only interested in securing a place in next season's Champions League by beating Newcastle on Sunday, and dismissed speculation that he is keen to bring the England international to north London.
"At the moment we have no interest in anybody. We have only one interest, which is of course Sunday's game," he said.
"I don't know if Man United will sell Rooney and that is the best sign to show you we have not made any approach for him because the first move is to contact Manchester United, which we did not do. At the moment we are focused on Sunday."
