Villarreal defender Joan Capdevila will be out for two to three weeks after injuring his ankle, the Spanish league club said on Monday.
The Spain left back suffered a sprained left ankle during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Valencia.
Capdevila has been a regular for Spain since its 2008 European Championship triumph in Austria and Switzerland. He started all of the World Cup champion's games during the tournament in South Africa this past summer.
Capdevila has played all 12 of third-place Villarreal's league games this season, scoring once.
