Villa tried to sign Bridge during the January transfer window, but lost out to West Ham for the former Southampton and Chelsea man. Bridge will return to City at the end of the season following West Ham's relegation, but City will move to offload the former England international this summer. The 30-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at City and Bridge does not figure in the plans of Roberto Mancini as he looks to trim his squad. Villa are in the market for a new left-back with Stephen Warnock frozen out of things at Villa Park and Bridge could be the answer to their problems.
