Veteran Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is set to play for Fulham into his 40s after signing a contract extension with the Premier League team.

Fulham said on Wednesday that the 39-year-old Schwarzer will remain at Craven Cottage ''until at least the summer of 2013,'' extending his stay at the southwest London club to five years.

Schwarzer is currently out of action with a spinal injury but wants to keep playing through to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Schwarzer says ''I'm enjoying my football as much as ever ... The saying I use is, 'I'll be a long time retired,' so I want to do the best job I can.''

Schwarzer, who will turn 40 in October, isn't the oldest Premier League goalkeeper - he is seven months younger than Tottenham's Brad Friedel.
