The Wales international has not featured for the Seasiders since their defeat at Fulham two weeks ago because of a persistent hip injury. Manager Ian Holloway voiced fears last week over the severity of the 28-year-old's problem, admitting he did not know when he would make his comeback. But Pool have revealed Vaughan is set to return to training after visiting a specialist and could be back in action for Saturday's visit of the Magpies. The club said in a statement on their official website: "The midfielder visited a specialist on Thursday to assess an ongoing hip problem but he may now resume training after some fluid has subsided." Vaughan has played a key role in Blackpool's maiden Premier League campaign as the struggling Seasiders bid for survival this season. Holloway added: "The little fella does make a huge difference to our team. "We can play him through what his problem is and we won't damage him anymore. "He had an injection (on Saturday) so we couldn't use him but that might be some decent news for us."
