Van Marwijk signs new Holland contract
Holland coach Bert van Marwijk has extended his contract by another four years and will now guide Oranje at the 2014 World Cup through to the 2016 European Championship finals.
Van Marwijk's current deal was due to expire following next summer's Euros in Poland and Ukraine but he will now lead Holland's bid to reach, and be successful in, Brazil and France over the next four years.
The former Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund boss, who took over the Holland job in 2008 and masterminded their run to the 2010 World Cup final in South Africa, told www.onsoranje.co.uk: "I have often said I am very happy with the Dutch FA (KNVB).
"If I have a good feeling [about staying], I think it's okay to remain here for a long time.''
There has been talk of a clause in the new deal which would allow Van Marwijk to speak to a leading European club should one make an offer for his services.
And the 59-year-old suggested he would have an escape route if an intriguing offer came along.
He added: "The KNVB wants security but I also have the space to decide on my future, but only if there is an opportunity that comes at the right time in my life.''
Under Van Marwijk, Holland have played 45 games, winning 31.
