Hamburger SV midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has been ruled out for three weeks with a leg injury, while Son Heung-min will also miss Tuesday's Bundesliga game against Schalke.

An examination Sunday confirmed that Van der Vaart tore a muscle in his right thigh in Friday's 2-0 defeat at Fortuna Duesseldorf.

Hamburg says Son has a muscle strain in his right thigh but could return for the game at Wolfsburg next Sunday.

Both Tomas Rincon and Gojko Kacar need operations. Rincon tore a tendon in his right ring finger, while Kacar has to have tissue removed due to increasing pain following his ankle surgery in April.

Rincon can play against Schalke with a splint before his operation, while Kacar will need three weeks before returning to training.
