Silva strained knee ligaments during his side's 1-1 draw with Mallorca in the Spanish league on Saturday and was substituted after 30 minutes.

Valencia doctor Jorge Candel says "it could have been worse" and "if this knee wasn't so strong there could have been a tear."

Candel said Sunday that Silva will not play for the next four weeks, but is optimistic the player will return to action in early January. Valencia hosts Espanyol on Jan. 3 after the winter break.

The Spain international is likely to miss games against Lille in the Europa League and Real Madrid in the Spanish league among others.
