Enner Valencia scored in the 89th minute to lift Ecuador to 2-2 draw with Honduras on Tuesday night.
Carlo Costly scored twice earlier in the second half to give Honduras the lead.
After both teams went down to 10 men due to red cards - including Honduras' Wilson Palacios in the 84th minute for his part in an altercation between the teams - Valencia scored from 25 yards out as the clock wound down to even the score.
''When we were winning 2-1 I thought we had the game,'' Honduras manager Luis Fernando Suarez said through a translator. ''Obviously, when we had the red card things changed.''
Jaime Ayovi put Ecuador ahead 1-0 in the 15th minute, deflecting a free kick sent over a wall of defenders by Walter Ayovi from 22 yards out.
Five minutes after entering the match Costly tied the score in the 62nd by taking advantage of a patient pass from Jerry Palacios and finishing with a left-footed shot. He then put Honduras ahead with another left-footed score in the 67th, putting a curling shot inside the far post.
''Definitely (Costly's) second one, it was beautiful,'' Suarez said about which goal he liked better. ''Almost like their second goal. People should leave happy. People should be happy with the way both teams played tonight with as much personality as they did.''
The international friendly also showed an ugly side of soccer with two ejections and a fight between the two teams. Palacios' ejection came after Ecuador's Juan Paredes was ejected in the 76th minute for a reckless foul.
''I think (the red cards) were very lamentable,'' Ecuador manager Reinaldo Rueda said through a translator. Rueda questioned referee Ricardo Salazar's decision to send Paredes off. In Palacios' case the Ecuador manager felt the move was needed.
''In Palacios' case things got heated,'' Rueda said. ''It was a matter of preventing (the altercation) and I think it was very fair due to what happened.''
