UEFA President Michel Platini says the pitches in all four of Poland's European Championship stadiums need to be replaced.

Platini made the remarks Thursday during a brief visit to the newly built National Stadium in Warsaw, which will host the opening game of Euro 2012 on June 8. Stadiums in Gdansk, Poznan and Wroclaw will also host games, along with venues in Ukraine.

Platini said that UEFA has ''demanded that all four surfaces are changed.'' He did not say what the problem was with the pitches, but pointed out that the quality of the playing surface is very visible on during a televised game.

On the whole, Platini said, preparations were going very well for the tournament.
