UEFA fines Polish club Legia for 'Jihad' banner
Legia Warsaw has been fined 10,000 euros ($13,500) by European soccer's governing body after fans displayed an ''illicit banner'' at a Europa League game against Israel's Hapoel Tel Aviv.
The green banner spelled out ''Jihad Legia'' in Arabic-style script across one end of the stadium before the Sept. 29 match.
The Union of European Football Associations prohibits ''political, offensive or provocative'' acts at stadiums. UEFA can punish teams by ordering them to host matches in empty stadiums.
Hapoel and Legia will play again in Israel on Dec. 15.
