UAE advances to 3rd round of World Cup qualifying

United Arab Emirates advanced to the third round of Asian qualifying for the 2014 World Cup despite being held to a 2-2 draw by India on Thursday.

The UAE advanced 5-2 on aggregate courtesy of its 3-0 first-leg win at Al Ain last week.

Mohammed Al Shehhi have the Emirati team a 1-0 lead on Thursday in the 39th minute on a wet pitch at Ambedkar Stadium. An unmarked Ali Al Wehaibi increased the lead in the 71st with a scorching right-footed shot.

India reduced the margin three minutes later through striker Jeje Lalpekhlua's header from a cross. Gouramangi Singh equalized in injury time.
