Trouble for Buddies, duo win
Michael Laudrup was pleased to see his Swansea side claim a point in their 0-0 draw at home to Manchester City.
Swansea dominated the early stages with Michu going close to opening the scoring but the visitors took charge after the break with Edin Dzeko wasting a great chance to win it late on.
"From my point of view, in the first 30 minutes we played good football and created three or four chances," Laudrup told Sky Sports.
"I think that's a lot when you're talking about playing the champions from last season - a great team.
"Then they had a couple of chances late on. The second half wasn't the best football. Even we have to admit that they had two big chances at the end, especially the one for Dzeko.
"But I think overall it was a good point for us. If you look at the other results, Fulham lost at home to Reading and West Ham was also a draw at Newcastle.
"We keep our position in ninth in the table with a game in hand, so I'm happy with that.
"A draw with the champions from last season means we can still reach that target of a top-10 finish and I think that would be fantastic."
Michu had a strong shout for a penalty in the first half and Laudrup was left bemused by the decision that means they are still waiting for a first Premier League spot-kick of the season.
"I thought it was a penalty when I saw it from the bench," he added. "Now looking at it after the game, it was a huge penalty.
"It's a little curious. We have played 35 games in the league and not even one penalty. Maybe next time."
The Buddies were handed a crushing 3-0 defeat by Hearts at Tynecastle.
The 15-point lead Danny Lennon's men once enjoyed over basement boys Dundee has been slashed to just eight, and could be cut to five with two games to play if John Brown's side beat Aberdeen on Sunday.
It was a woeful display from the Paisley outfit as they fell apart after Jamie Walker's opener just 14 minutes in.
Kevin McHattie's free-kick 60 seconds before half-time gave them an uphill task in the second period but a spirited opening five minutes was quickly quelled when Kenny McLean was sent off after barging into the scorer of the second in the box, leaving Jamie Hamill to wrap up the win from the penalty spot.
Billy McKay's hat-trick earned Inverness a 4-3 victory against 10-man Motherwell after they had blown a three-goal lead in a thrilling contest.
McKay and Andrew Shinnie struck to put Caley Thistle three ahead inside 27 minutes but Motherwell had scored 15 goals in their five most recent games and 12 against Inverness in three previous meetings this season and they stormed back.
James McFadden hit two goals either side of Michael Higdon's penalty to draw Motherwell level in the 64th minute as they sought the point needed to secure second place.
They looked like they might take all three but Henrik Ojamaa was sent off and McKay atoned for an earlier penalty miss when he fired a close-range winner six minutes from time.
The victory keeps Inverness in pole position to join Motherwell in the Europa League and both sides showed why they deserve their current top-three positions for entertainment value alone.
Liam Craig scored the only goal of the game against Dundee United at Tannadice to give St Johnstone their first SPL win over the Tangerines in 13 years.
The Saints midfielder - who has signed a pre-contract with Hibernian - lit up a lifeless opening period in the 38th minute with a fine finish from inside the penalty area.
There was huffing and puffing from both sides in an equally dull second-half but no more scoring with the victory leaving the McDiarmid Park club in fourth place, one point behind Inverness as the race for the Europa League spots enters its final two games.
