Tricky cup ties for Dortmund, Bayern and Schalke
German Cup holder Borussia Dortmund will continue its title defense at home against Bundesliga rival Hannover, following Sunday's draw for the third round.
Runner-up Bayern Munich is away at Bavarian rival Augsburg, while 2011 winner Schalke hosts Mainz and Bayer Leverkusen visits Wolfsburg in three more all-Bundesliga matchups.
Of the other top-tier sides remaining, Stuttgart hosts second-division Cologne, while Freiburg and Fortuna Duesseldorf visit third-division sides Karlsruher SC and Kickers Offenbach, respectively.
Second-division sides Bochum and 1860 Munich meet in the only third-round tie not involving Bundesliga clubs, with the games being held over Dec. 18 and 19.
There were no major surprises in the second round. All the top-tier sides went through, with the exception of Borussia Moenchengladbach, which lost after extra time at Duesseldorf.
