Birmingham says former England striker Trevor Francis is recovering well in hospital after surgery following a heart attack.
The 57-year-old Francis became England's first million-pound footballer after being bought by Nottingham Forest from Birmingham for that figure in 1979.
Birmingham said on its website Saturday that its former player and manager ''suffered a heart attack yesterday and underwent an operation.''
Birmingham says Francis is ''recovering well'' and should be able to return home within a week.

Francis scored 12 goals in 52 games for England, and has also managed Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace.
He also spent six years playing in Italy, for Sampdoria and Atalanta, in the 1980s.
