Tottenham get green light to buy land for new stadium

Tottenham have been given the go-ahead to buy the last remaining land they require for their new stadium after a High Court appeal was turned down.

Archway Sheet Metal Works was objecting to a compulsory purchase order made in March 2012 and then confirmed by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles MP last July.

Mr Justice Dove ruled there was "no legal flaw" in the decision-making process after the family-owned company claimed the CPO was "unlawful and invalid."

The premises, yards from Spurs' current home White Hart Lane, were gutted in a fire last November and represented the only land the club needed for their new £400m complex, due to be ready in time for the 2018-19 season.

Archway have been refused permission to appeal but the firm can still ask Court of Appeal judges directly to consider their case.
