Liverpool says Fernando Torres will report for international duty with Spain despite straining an ankle ligament in the 2-0 loss to Stoke in the Premier League.
The striker, who played the full match for Liverpool at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, will be assessed by Spain's medical staff ahead of Wednesday's friendly against Portugal in Lisbon.
Liverpool says its medical team "have been in contact with their Spanish counterparts to keep them up to date on the 26-year-old's condition."
Torres has returned to form after a disappointing start to the season, scoring three goals in two games before his team's defeat at Stoke.
