Titus Bramble fined after Sunderland investigation

Sunderland has fined defender Titus Bramble an undisclosed amount for bringing the club's name into disrepute following an investigation into his off-field activities.

Bramble will appear in court in Middlesbrough on Thursday charged with two counts of sexual assault. He was also charged last month with urinating in a public place, but a charge of possessing Class A drugs was dropped.

The Premier League club said Tuesday it has given Bramble the ''maximum sanction permitted,'' but declined to give further details.

Bramble was suspended by Sunderland while the club launched its investigation. He hasn't played since the team lost 2-1 at Norwich on Sept. 26 - two days before he was arrested for the first time on suspicion of sexual assault.
