Tigre moved up to fifth in the early Apertura standings with a 1-0 win over Banfield on Friday.

Mariano Echeverria's goal in the 31st minute proved decisive, and ensured they climbed above Colon on goal difference after they drew 0-0 away to Newell's Old Boys in Rosario.

The team from Santa Fe finished with nine men after Adrian Bastia (72) and substitute Ismael Quilez were dismissed.

In the night's other game, Belgrano claimed their first win of the season by beating San Lorenzo 1-0. Cesar Manzanelli scored the only goal in the 39th minute but the visitors had to hold on for the final eight minutes with 10 men after Guillermo Farre was sent off.
