Tigana handed Bordeaux job
Jean Tigana has been confirmed as the new coach of Bordeaux, replacing Laurent Blanc who is to take over as France coach after the World Cup.
The club announced the appointment on Tuesday morning, with Tigana set to be introduced at a press conference this afternoon.
Tigana has enjoyed success coaching with Lyon and Monaco in Ligue 1, while also having stints at Fulham and Besiktas.
Bordeaux will be hoping Tigana can reproduce the formula that saw him take Monaco to the Ligue 1 crown in 1997.
But he needs to revitalise a Bordeaux squad that appeared to be cruising towards a second successive title before suffering an alarming collapse that saw them drop down to sixth in the table, and miss out on European football.
Tigana must also find a way to replace top scorer Marouane Chamakh, who last week signed for Arsenal.
