Coach Hernan Dario Gomez has named three first-time players to Colombia's squad for international friendlies later this month against Ecuador and Chile.

Gomez on Tuesday named forward Victor Hugo Montano, who plays for French club Rennes, midfielder Elkin Soto of German side Mainz and midfielder Carlos Carbonero from Colombian club Once Caldas.

The best known player left off the team was Teofilo Gutierrez of Argentine club Racing. Gutierrez, who has led the club to first place in the Argentina Clausura championship, is absent to give Gomez time to look at new talent.

Colombia lost its last friendly match 1-0 against World Cup champion Spain.
