Thiago Silva completes deal with PSG
Brazil defender Thiago Silva signed a five-year deal with Ligue 1 giant Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.
A statement on PSG's website read: "Thiago Silva, 27, a Brazilian international, from AC Milan, has signed this Saturday with Paris Saint-Germain for five seasons."
A statement on the AC Milan website read: "AC Milan announces that it has sold Thiago Silva to PSG."
Silva appeared to be on the verge of a big-money transfer to PSG last month but the move looked to have been shelved when he signed a new five-year contract with AC Milan.
''I'm very happy that Thiago Silva has signed,'' PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti said. ''He is a fantastic player. Everyone knows that he is one of the best players in the world.
''With Silva and Alex, we have a good set of defenders and I will choose the best for the games. I'm not going to forget the other defenders who are working well.''
The 27-year-old Silva has been at Milan since 2009 and helped the team win the Serie A in 2011.
PSG has been in talks with Milan over the transfer of both Silva and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic this week for a reported fee of €65 million ($80 million).
