Tevez hopeful of cup return

Tevez was sidelined earlier this month when he damaged his hamstring in their heavy defeat at Liverpool. City boss Roberto Mancini revealed last week that Tevez would be missing for four weeks, which would take him just past the cup final on May 14. Now Tevez is working hard to make sure he will be available for the showpiece event against Stoke City. "I have played in the cup for three teams and know what an important competition it is. In some countries the domestic cup is not important," said Tevez. "But because of the history and of what the FA Cup means to the supporters it carries more significance. "It always has a special atmosphere because of that and I'm sure the game will be an amazing occasion." City have gone over 30 years without picking up silverware and Tevez is hopeful that barren run will soon come to an end. "We are playing well and we have a chance to achieve something big for Manchester City," he continued after a 1-0 win over local rivals United had secured a final spot. "For the club, owners and fans. As a player you want to play in the big occasions. "I played at Wembley once for United against Everton in the semi-finals. We lost the penalty shoot-out so it's not a happy memory. "United have been winning the games that we felt we could win - but we felt Saturday was an opportunity to beat them and dedicate an historic win to our supporters."
