Tahiti started its final match of the Confederations Cup with yet another goalkeeper, the third to be used in the team's three matches at the World Cup warm-up tournament.

Gilbert Meriel faced Uruguay in the Group B match at the Arena Pernambuco, losing 8-0 but saving a penalty.

Xavier Samin played in the 6-1 loss to Nigeria in the opening match last Monday, and Mikael Roche was in goal for the 10-0 drubbing against Spain on Thursday.

Tahiti coach Eddie Etaeta had said it was his intention to use as many of his players as possible.

Meriel saved the penalty attempt from Andres Scotti in the 50th minute. He dived to his left to stop the shot and then scrambled to control the loose ball.

One minute later, Scotti was sent off with a second yellow card.

Tahiti qualified for the Confederations Cup by winning the Oceania Nations Cup.
