Defender Timm Klose has received his first Switzerland call-up to cover for Johan Djourou ahead of a friendly against Liechtenstein on Wednesday.

The Swiss Football Association says Arsenal's Djourou could still play in Vaduz despite a knee injury, but the 23-year-old Klose is needed as a precaution.

Germany-born Klose, who plays for Nuremberg, is the eighth player from Switzerland's Under-21 European Championship team selected for the squad by coach Ottmar Hitzfeld.

Hitzfeld also called on Johnny Leoni as backup goalkeeper after Marco Woelfli fractured his right thumb in Monday's practice session.

Schalke forward Mario Gavranovic joined the squad Sunday to replace injured 19-year-old forward Nassim Ben Khalifa.
