The Swiss football association says Johan Djourou could play in a 2012 European Championship qualifier next week despite dislocating his right shoulder playing for Arsenal.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said Djourou's season was over after sustaining the injury in a 2-0 loss against Manchester United in the FA Cup on Saturday.

But the Swiss FA says the damage is not as bad as initially feared after the 24-year-old defender underwent extensive tests Monday.

Swiss team doctors found Djourou did not break any bones and his shoulder ligaments were not seriously strained.

The Swiss FA says it will make ''every effort'' to get Djourou fit to face Bulgaria in an away qualifier on March 26.
