Swiss club Lucerne says it has fired coach Ryszard Komornicki, fueling speculation that former Basel coach Heiko Vogel could be appointed.
Lucerne is ninth in the 10-team league and lost 4-0 at home to new league leader Basel on Monday. The club is just five points ahead of Servette in the automatic relegation place.
Komornicki was appointed last August with the team in the same position after a poor start to the season.
Change has been expected since Lucerne announced last month that Basel forward Alex Frei will join as sporting director in mid-April.

Swiss media has reported that Frei could hire his former coach Vogel, who guided Basel to eliminate Manchester United on its run to the Champions League last-16 last season.
