Swansea brought Newcastle's four-match winning run in the Premier League to an end by easing to a 3-0 victory at Liberty Stadium on Wednesday.
Nathan Dyer's volley at the far post in the 45th minute gave the Welsh team a halftime lead, which was added to by an own goal from Mathieu Debuchy and a brilliant 25-yard strike by Jonjo Shelvey in the final 24 minutes.
Swansea's second league win at home this campaign lifted the side into mid-table but there was some bad news as Alvaro Vazquez limped off with a groin problem, becoming the latest striker to join an injury list that already includes Michu and Wilfried Bony.
